Qualitative research is evolutionary in nature. That flexibility to change with changing needs also gives us permission to sometimes be creative with our methods, always bearing in mind the standards for Best Practices.

Working on an innovative concept design? Consider having a graphic designer onsite for the research to capture consumers’ musings on the spot and present the drawings for additional feedback.

Maybe you want to capture consumers “in the moment” but are unable to invest in a full ethnographic study? Send respondents home or shopping with small video cameras to record their activities or thoughts for moderator and client review.
